Pantoum – Writer’s Block

She inscribed letters on to the page,

The curl of her a, the bend of her n,

They brought reminders,

Small, nostalgic ones.

The curl of her a, the bend of her n,

Formed phrases and sentences,

Small, nostalgic ones,

They filled the blank pages.

Phrases and sentences were formed,

All in her head,

Now they filled the blank pages,

A pouring out of emotions.

All in her head,

Were images and reminiscences,

Emotions waiting to be poured out,

To be written on blank pages.

Images and reminiscences,

Were all she could write about,

On blank pages,

In blue, black ink,

Or in the soft touch of a pencil.

This pantoum was written as part of the coursework for University of Iowa’s Distance Learning Program.
